I am the Assistant Principal at Barr Middle School in Grand Island, NE. I started out my educational career as a high school business teacher with a minimum of seven courses to prepare for each year. In a small setting with many limitations, I had to lean on my farm and family values. Working hard and being resourceful were prerequisites to success.
Today, I focus my energy on balancing systematic improvements with a strong climate & culture. I believe it is my job to be visible in my building and transparent about initiatives that are in progress. Therefore, I hang my hat on timely and effective communication systems. As I look back at these past few years, there is no doubt that Barr Middle School and Grand Island Public Schools would be significantly different without my presence as an administrator. I am proud of the many initiatives that I have participated in, led, and inspired these last few years. In my short time as an administrator, I have been privileged to learn alongside many talented educators and teams which I have been able to both influence and learn from.
